Malaysia. Kuala Lumpur, Kuala Selangor - March
I arrived in Kuala Lumpur right after visiting Sri Lanka.
It's fascinating how W. Gibson's quote rings true: "The future is already here – it's just not evenly distributed".
Just 5 hours ago, I was standing sweating in an overcrowded bus where the scent of aromatic candles and fresh flowers hung in the air. The bus required impromptu repairs, and the driver and conductor expertly opened the engine cover, making repairs while the wheels continued to turn. It was a testament to the resourcefulness and adaptability of the people there.
And here, in Kuala Lumpur, you find yourself practically alone in the cool bus in a super big chair, driving you almost to your front door. It seemed to me that even the price for both buses was almost similar.
Anyway, Malaysia has a lot in common with Sri Lanka. For example, the climate and the same British heritage:
And the same reptiles:
And the same colorful nature:
Infamous Petronas towers:
Almost all more or less decent apartment complexes have built-in swimming pool:
Apart from Kuala Lumpur, I went to Kuala Selangor, a small village famous for its firefly colonies that claimed to be the biggest in the world.
You embark on a small boat and glide in complete darkness along the river for about 20 minutes, surrounded by the glow of fireflies. It's hard to take any decent pictures because of the pitch-black environment, but it's worth visiting:
